About
The Reform Party (RP) was formed in 2008 by the veteran politician, J.B. Jeyaretnam, who had served in Parliament from 1981-1986 as the leader of the Workers’ Party. J.B. Jeyaretnam died three months after the founding of the party, and his son, Kenneth Jeyaretnam, has taken on the role of party leader since.
RP is a liberal-democratic party and believes that “there is a role for government in looking after the less fortunate members of society, in correcting market failures and in promoting growth and full employment”. The party has also advocated for a government with greater transparency and accountability.
